Session 4: Ministering to a Hurting Generation: The landscape is all too familiar for those of us who work with teenagers—addictions, eating disorders, self-injury, destructive sexual choices, media saturation, sexual abuse, family breakdown, anxiety, depression and suicide. These are the dark realities that mark the lives of so many teenagers today. Marv will help you explore and address the tough issues students are facing. You’ll get practical ideas and proven resources for responding to the big and “not so big” stuff that teenagers face on a daily basis. Some topics we’ll cover: The cycle of addiction and first steps for intervention, adolescent sexuality, pregnancy and gender identity issues, breaking the grip of self-injury, helping kids who’ve been sexually abused, understanding and responding to eating disorders, and suicide (diagnosis and intervention). After decades of working with teenagers who’ve faced these issues, Marv can point you to a place of hope.
